Aly Raisman is a gold-medal-winning Olympic gymnast who has led her U.S. team to victories in 2012 and the year 2016. She's won six Olympic medals all over the world as well as being a part of two gold-medal winning World Championships teams. The native of Needham, Massachusetts, Aly's interest in the sport is traced to an early "mommy and me" gymnastics class that she attended when she was just 18 months old. Aly is a great advocate for body positive and is both an active leader as well as a participant on the floor. She has recently spoken out on Larry Nassar's sentencing. Aly Raisman, born in 1994 began gymnastics as when she was a child. She was instrumental in helping her U.S. team to win the 2011 World Championships. After that she was awarded two gold medals--one in the team competition, and one in the individual floor exercise. She also won a bronze medal in the beam competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In 2016, Raisman returned to compete at the Olympics in Rio with silver medals at the individual all-around final and floor exercise as well as a gold medal for the team women's competition. Raisman disclosed in 2017 that she was sexually abused by her former team physician Larry Nassar. The following year, she filed a lawsuit with USA Gymnastics as well as the U.S. Olympic Committee.
